The policy group Our Hong Kong Foundation has suggested that TCM practitioners could be included in the government's Chronic Disease Co-Care Pilot Scheme, something the organisation believes would alleviate the workload of GPs.

TCM is also expected to play a bigger role in the city's overall healthcare system, with Hong Kong's first Chinese Medicine Hospital scheduled to open in 2025.
